[PINKSTON] ROGERS Vona M. (Pinkston) Rogers was born April 1, 1916 to George L. and Mable G. (Hoffman) Pinkston, in Garber, Oklahoma. She lived on the Rickenburg Place, Hwy 37 E of Hinton, and attended the Hazaldale School, where her brother Earl “Pinkey” Pinkston was born. At age 13, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She moved with her family to Minco, OK and graduated from the Minco High School in May 1934. After graduation she attended College in Chickasha and later was manager and operator of the V and M Beauty Shoppe in Minco. On May 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Glenn E Rogers by Rev. J.A. Haley, at the Baptist parsonage, Garber, OK. They established their first home in Hinton, OK where Glenn was working for the Southwestern Light and Power Company, later becoming Public Service Company of Oklahoma. Glenn was transferred to Chickasha, OK in 1941. On March 23, 1942, their first daughter Glennette was born. They were transferred to Apache, OK in 1943. On May 4, 1946 their second daughter Brenda was born. They were transferred back to Hinton, OK in 1950, where they made their home for almost 16 years. She was very active in the First Baptist Church, WMU, BYW, and Sunday School activities and Training Union. Vona and Glenn were very active in the church youth activities, planning sweetheart banquets, hayrack rides, halloween parties and sponsors for Falls Creek and very much in the Hinton Senior Citizens. They were transferred to Grandfield, OK in 1966, where they were very active in the First Baptist church. In 1980, Glenn and Vona returned to Hinton, OK, after Glenn retired from Public Service Company after 43 years of service. Vona and Glenn were partners in marriage for over 65 years. They were examples for all who knew them. Vona passed away to be with her Lord on Monday, January 10, 2005, in the Weatherford Hospital at 2:25 p.m. Celebration of her life was Thursday, January 13, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Hinton, OK. Vona was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Earl Pinkston. Survivors include: Her husband: Glenn Rogers of the home, Hinton, OK; two daughters: Glennette Jaques and her husband Charles of Hinton, OK and Brenda Pate and her husband James of Plan, TX; six grandchildren: Cynthia K. McDaniel and her husband Tommy of Weatherford, OK, Michael D. Jaques and his wife Shawnda of Hinton, OK, Deborah Kidd of Choctaw, OK, Rebecca J. Jaques of Hinton, OK, James Alan Pate and his wife Michelle of Tulsa, OK, and R. Dwayne Pate and his wife Kara of Hinton, OK; five great grandchildren: Crissy, Gabe, Andrew, Erik, and Jaxon. Services were held at First Baptist Church, Thursday, 1:00 P.M., January 13, 2005, Hinton, OK with Rev. Scott Hamilton officiating. Burial in Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, OK under the direction of the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Hinton, OK.
