SCHAMBURG VICI ­ The funeral for J.D. Schamburg, 76, will be 2:30 p.m. today in Vici First Christian church. Arrangements are by Shaw Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 31, 1926, east of Vici to Fred and Orpha Dickey Schamburg and died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2992, after a short illness. He attended Liberty School and graduated from Vici High School in 1943. He enlisted into the Navy, serving during World War II. He participated in the invasion of Iwo Jima and the battle at Okinawa. After his discharge, he returned to Vici and worked in the construction business. For a time he lived in Arkansas and attended college. He worked for a seismograph company and traveled throughout the United States, living in Alaska and the Northwest. In the early 1950’s, he moved to Seagraves, Texas, where he farmed and was in the peanut and salvage business. He also refurbished antique furniture and cut and polished stones. He was affiliated with Vici Christian Church. Surviving are one sister, Anna Mae Sweet of Vici; and one brother, Loyd of Vici.
