All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunland Memorial Gardens--Sun City AZ Sharp, Frances Evelyn Frances ³Evelyn² Sharp, better known as Evelyn Sharp, died on Sunday, February 18, 2007 in her home in Sun City, which she shared with her niece, Karen R. Keesling. Evelyn was born on December 7, 1912. Frances Evelyn Sharp attended Phillips University at Enid, Oklahoma in their music program. At the end of her third year, she transferred to the University of Wichita since her ³little² sister, Ruth Sharp, was ready to start college. Later, she received her Masterıs Degree in Secondary Administration around 1960 from Long Beach State College. Vocal music was the love of Miss Sharpıs life. She spent 27 years in the California Teachers system before retiring around 1972. During this time Evelyn served in the Downey Junior High School. She served first as the vocal music teacher with girlsı glee club, mixed chorus, etc. at North Downey Junior High School. On September 1, 1960, she became Dean of Girls and Counselor at the West Downey Junior High School. Prior to moving to California in 1946, Evelyn Sharp taught in several small towns in Kansas, teaching vocal music, band, English, Spanish, coaching drama and Assistant Coach of the Girlsı basketball team. Evelyn Sharp moved to Sun City, Arizona in June, 1976 from Downey, California where her ³little² sister, Ruth, and her husband, Paul Keesling, moved in October, 1976 from Wichita, Kansas. Ms. Sharp was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma from 1959 in California to her chapter XI in Sun City; P.E.O., Chapter BY of Sun City; and Faith Presbyterian Church of Sun City, Arizona. Evelyn loved to play bridge, travel, do her needlepoint and sew. She loved her family including her four great nephews and their families and her many cousins. The Sharp family reunions were always important gatherings which she enjoyed attending. The last one being in 2002. Evelyn will be missed by her family, her former students and her friends and P.E.O. sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Olive Sharp; her brothers: Keith and Leo Sharp; and her sisters: Beatrice Sharp Drennan Carver and Ruth Sharp Keesling. In addition to her niece, Karen R. Keesling, Evelyn is survived by her niece, Dolores Drennan McCowan, and her niece, Clara Ellen Sharp Gill. Services will be at Sunland Memorial Gardens, 15826 N. Del Webb Boulevard, Sun City, Arizona, 623-933-0161, at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2007 with a reception to follow immediately at Faith Presbyterian Church at 16000 N.
