Tice LIBERAL, Kan. - Desley M. "Deck" Tice, 94, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Western Avenue Church of Christ with Mike Schroeder, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Balko, Okla., by Miller Mortuary. Mr. Tice was born in No-Mans-Land, Beaver County, Okla., and graduated from Balko High School in 1926. He married Sylvia Belle Delano in 1930. He worked in Enid, Okla., as a mechanic for Groendyke Transportation. He had been a catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. He played for the Eason Oilers of Enid. He and his wife farmed before moving to Liberal in 1971. Five years ago, they moved to the Wheatridge Park Care Center. He was a member of Balko Baptist Church and later attended the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a son, Cecil Tice of Broomfield, Colo.; two sisters, Mabel Barnett of Williamsburg, N.M., and Eura Perry of Beaver; a brother, Gwynn Tice of Balko; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the mortuary from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
