THOMPSON Charles ‘Chuck’ L. Thompson The memorial service for Charles "Chuck" Louis Thompson, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Prospect Assembly of God. The Rev. Dennis Holcomb will officiate. A potluck reception will follow at the Prospect Community Club. Mr. Thompson, 61, of Prospect, died Friday (Oct. 19, 2001) at his home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501. He was born May 31, 1940, in Maysville, Okla., a son of Claude and Nettie (Green) Thompson. He was an American Indian of the Choctaw Tribe. He moved to Southern Oregon from Oklahoma in 1956. On July 13, 1959, in Canyonville, he married Ruth Edmenson, who survives. They moved to Prospect in 1976. Mr. Thompson retired from the U.S. Forest Service as an assistant fire management officer in 1995. He began his career with the Forest Service in fire control. He also served as the Prospect fire chief for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Cory, Crescent City, Calif., and Charles Jr., Great Lakes, Ill.; two daughters, Charlena McKnight, Medford, and Christina Thompson, Perris, Calif.; a brother, Willie, Canyonville; and nine grandchildren.
