All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Hargis, Joseph Henry Joseph Henry, of Oklahoma City, died on the evening of November 28 at South Park Health Care Center at the age of 85 years. He was born on March 31, 1917 at Lindsay, OK, the seventh child of Henry P. and Rhoda Dunn Hargis. He was preceded in death by Beatrice Hargis, his wife of 59 years, by his parents, and by five of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter Norma Ledoux of Oklahoma City, his son Steve Hargis of Edmond, his last living sister Edna Mae Hargis, 93, of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren and three great grand- children. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Our Dad became a Christian when we were kids and lived a long and productive life of service to his Lord, his family and his profession. He served in leadership roles at Mayfair Church of Christ, Okla. City, and Park Plaza Church of Christ, Tulsa. One of the treasures we discovered among his personal papers was a folder of prayers he had composed over the years for public worship and Communion services at the Mayfair and Park Plaza churches. We were thrice blessed through our Dad: he loved us, provided us with a strong personal example of Christian maturity and a secure home, and made sure we were in church three times a week during our formative years. Dad was a member of the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers and worked as a consulting engineer for HTB, Inc. He loved his work and his colleagues, gave them his best for twenty- five years, and retired as Vice President in charge of Engineering of the Tulsa office of HTB. Following his retirement from Engineering he served for several years as a trustee of Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts and was active in fund raising. Dad gracefully endured the progressive deterioration of Alzheimer's disease. And the final blessing we have received through him are our memories of him when he was in the long, fruitful prime of his life.
