All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Oaklawn Cemetery--Wynnewood OK Horton, Saleta MaMaw soared to heaven February 25, 2003, mid-morning at Golden Rule Nursing Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. MaMaw as she was affectionately known by everyone, was born Saleta Fowlkes, December 16, 1931, in Greenville, Texas. MaMaw married Conner Horton on August 16, 1910 in Greenville, Texas. They had three sons, Conner Lynn who went to heaven at the age of almost 3, Larry who too went to heaven at the age of 40. She is survived by her son Tom and daughter-in-law Susie of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, three grandsons, Pat and Matt Horton, of Norman, Oklahoma, Jon Horton of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Four great granddaughters, Conner Ashley, Keyla and Emily. MaMaws extended family includes Sallie Bostick of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, James Bostick of Fort Worth, Texas, Susan Bostick Mein of Littleton, Colorado, and Scott Bostick of Morrison, Colorado. MaMaw graduated from Wesley Jr. College, Greenville, Texas and East Texas State Teachers College, Corsicana, Texas, and taught school for 30 years, teaching mainly the 4th grade. Pawpaw was coach and school administer. They lived in Rule, Texas before coming to Wynewood in 1970, where they retired and ranched. MaMaw was active in the First United Methodist Church. She volunteered in the Nursing Home where her daughter-in-law was the administrator, until 2 months ago, as she would say, she was going to visit the elderly in the Nursing Home, driving herself of course. It can truly be said, that she never said a cruel word about anyone. She gave faithfully, financially and always supported each Pastor. She was OUR MAMAW!! MaMaw was a class act. What a reunion Monday morning!!!! I know without a doubt Pawpaw, Conner Lynn and Larry were waiting her arrival and oh yes PaPaw and MaMaw Dowdy were there too. Guess it's time to say goodbye.....but you know I've never been good at goodbyes...so Ill just say Rest in Peace......Rest in Peace. Funeral services will be Wednesday February 26, 2003 at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Wynnewood under the direction of the DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewood. Interment will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood.
