Carmel Baptist Church in Wynnewood with Rev. Willie J. Tiller, Jr. and Rev. Harold Brewer officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woosterfuneralhome.com. Born August 17, 1919 in Wynnewood to Syrus and Catherine Allen Johnson, he died Friday, July 29 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Johnson grew up and attended school in Wynnewood. In July, 1941 he married Gladys Pearle Johnson in Wynnewood. Her served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After the war, he returned to his hometown and began a lengthy career as a printer for the Wynnewood Gazette, Davis News and Sulphur Times-Democrat. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Wynnewood where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed reading and sports. His family and grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Surviving are four sons, Clinton Johnson and his wife, Vernetta, Oklahoma City, Tommie L. Johnson and his wife, Thelma, Wichita Falls, Texas, Keohler Johnson and his wife, Shirlee, Oklahoma City and Dwyar Johnson and his wife, Teresa, Wynnewood; two daughters, Sue Curry and her husband, Bob, and Bettye J. Rushing, all of Wynnewood; one brother, Edward Johnson, West Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Johnnie Pearl Love, Wynnewood and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
