Clara Lucille Dunn was born on August 28, 1920 in Stratford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Clyde Dunn and Cora Archer Dunn. In the early 1930's the family moved to Visalia, California where she attended school and met and married her husband, Robert Lee Jolley, in 1937. Robert worked in construction building the Army bases along the coast. During World War II he worked at the Port Hueneme Naval Base. By this time it was a family of four with daughter, Jacqueline and son, Winford. They put down roots in Ventura, California until 1956. During that time they added the fifth member of the family, a son, Robert Eugene. In 1956 the family moved to Farmington, New Mexico where Robert worked as a sales engineer and Station Manager for an oil service company until 1965 when work took the family to Bakersfield, California. Upon retirement Lucille and Robert moved first to Lake Vallecito, Colorado and then to Ceres, California for retirement. In the past five years due to failing health Lucille lived in a retirement home in Jefferson, Texas so that she could be near her daughter's family. Lucille was a loving mother and wife and a voracious book reader. She was also an excellent doll maker and collector of antique dolls. Her eldest son was always surprised that she had read some of his college textbooks and most of the novels he had read. Her husband, Robert Lee and her youngest son, Robert Eugene, preceded her in death. Her daughter, Jacqueline Richards and her husband, James of Jefferson, Texas; her son, Winford Jolley and his wife, Carol of Florence, Oregon; two granddaughters, Melissa Smith of Jefferson, Texas and Carrie Peycke of Frazier Park, California, survive her. Lucille also leaves two great-grandchildren, Zane and Leah Peycke, also of Frazier Park, California. She was interred on July 27, 2007, at the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, next to her husband, in Hughson, CA.
