Claudia M. Kerntke Jan. 11, 1926 — Sept. 15, 2006

Claudia Mae Cosby Kerntke, 80, of Modesto died Friday at Alexander 
Cohen Hospice House, Hughson.

Mrs. Kerntke was a native of Stratford, Okla., and had lived in 
Modesto since 1946. She was a homemaker and a member of VFW 
Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, travel, embroidery 
and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, John Albert Kerntke of Modesto; 
children, Barbara Dell, Arleen Renslow and Albert Kerntke, all of 
Modesto, Donna Hurst of Ogden, Utah, and Danny Kerntke of Salt Lake 
City; brother, Herron Farrish of Modesto; sisters, Lou Rippee of 
Vacaville and Linda Maxey of Modesto; and eight grandchildren and 
five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her children, 
Wanda Kerntke and Kenneth Kerntke; and two sisters.

Visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Salas Brothers Funeral 
Chapel. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with 
burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella.
