Art was a resident of Port Angeles, Washington with his wife, Mary. Born in Maysville, Oklahoma, Art was preceded in death by father, Arthur Knoy; mother, Maude McLaughlin; son, Mark Knoy; and sister, Betty Patty. Art is survived by his wife, Mary, of 16 years; sisters, Agatha Knoy, Yvonne Johnson; aunt, Donnie Bain; sons, Scot Knoy, Johnie Burch, Doug Knoy, and Robert Smith; daughters, Karon Peterson, Veronica Osborne, Lynn Knoy, and Sherry Knoy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Art was a pilot in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Kern County Sheriffs Department as Under-sheriff, serving Kern County, September 16, 1957 February 28, 1986. Art was a respected and honored man in Kern County, and was referred to by friends as Biggin. Art was a generous, fair and exceptional man. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held on September 22, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Kern County Firefighters Union Hall, 3615 Mt. Vernon Ave., Bakersfield.
