Mable Weaver Mitchell

Services: Tues., Nov. 27, 2 p.m. Graveside services will be held in 
Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Mable Weaver Mitchell, 
95, who passed away November 21, 2001. Rev. Martin Murdock will 
officiate. Mrs. Mitchell was born on June 28, 1906 in Maysville, 
Oklahoma and resided in Kern County for 85 years. She last worked at 
Brocks Dept. store and retired from retail sales after 15 years. Mrs. 
Mitchell loved to play bridge and enjoyed traveling. She attended 
Wesley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Mitchell was a member and past 
Worthy Matron of Libertas Chapter of Eastern Star.  She was preceded 
in death by her husband John F. Mitchell in 1955; her parents; two 
brothers and one sister. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-
law, Edwin J. and Kazuko Gooding of Watsonville, CA and Donald and 
Frances Gooding of Bakersfield; four grandchildren, Robert Gooding, 
David Gooding, Julie Ashley and Dawn Slaybough; eight great 
grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Elsa Weaver of 
Escondido, CA and sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Jack Upton of 
Bakersfield. The family wishes to express thanks to Hoffman Hospice 
and Rosewood for their kindness and care. Visitation begins Monday at 
3 p.m. Greenlawn Mortuary Funeral Directors
