Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ with Steve Walker, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Palmer Cemetery in Murray County, Okla., by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Murray County. She was a homemaker and a member of Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ. She had been a Dumas resident since May 1997 and was a former longtime resident of Sulphur, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dirickson, in 1969. Survivors include two daughters, Avalene Sullivan and husband, Bob, of Dumas and Trudy Williams and husband, Gene, of Muskogee, Okla.; a brother, R.E. Hunter of Wynnewood, Okla.; a sister, Cleathel Chilcoat of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second Ave., Dumas, TX 79029; or Memorial Nursing Home Activity Center at the same address. The family will be a half-mile south of U.S. Highway 287 in Dumas. Amarillo Globe-News, May 21, 2002
