Finis Steelman officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Hale's Fox Funeral Home. Born September 27, 1914, west of Wynnewood, to John Herman and Leonie Bee (Majors) Payne, he died Thursday, June 30 at Ardmore. He was raised and lived in the Davis area most of his life. He married Mildred Cantrell on May 29, 1937 in Davis. She preceded him in death on August 4, 1945. On June 23, 1949, he married Hazel Sanders. He worked in roofing and carpentry until he retired. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home; three daughters, Delores Warren, Sulphur, Betty Scott, Watauga, Texas and Linda Harper, Arlington, Texas; one son, Bill Payne, Wilson; one brother, Johnny Payne, Duncan; three sisters, Jaunita Coppenbarger, Dorothy Watson, both of Davis and Thelma Neal, Waurika; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were his parents; a son, William Bradford Payne, Jr.; three brothers, E. A. Payne, Doyle Payne and Jessie Payne; three sisters, Estelle Rogers, Ruby Huggins, Frances Payne; one great-grandson, Michael Wilkins and a son-in-law, Rex Scott.
