Florence Dies in Action in Pacific First reported death of a Garvin County boy in the current war was announced today. Mr. and Mrs. Zack Florence of the Florence Chapel community near Paoli were informed in a message from the navy department that their son, R.C. Florence, had died in action last Monday. There were no other details. The youth, who had been in the navy for two years, was 25 years old. He grew up in the Florence Chapel community and was graduated from the Florence Chapel school. He was the nephew of Mrs. S.B. Harkreader and Mrs. D. Lee Thompson of Pauls Valley. His parents heard from him last on January 2. His brother, Eugene, is in the marine corps. He told his parents in the last letter they received from him that he would be at sea. They do not know where he is located at this time. Obituary from the local 1940's paper
