All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Green Hill Cemetery--Lindsay OK The Davis News, Wednesday, February 9, 2005, Page 3 carried the following obituary: "MARGARET GERTRUDE THOMAS Funeral services for Margaret Gertrude Thomas, 82, of Davis were Feb. 5 at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Davis with the Rev. J. D. Thomas Jr., Dr. D. M. Eggenberg and Bro. Don Jacquez officiating. She was buried in Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Krien Funeral Home. Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 7, 1923, to John and Elnora (Davis) Hawkins and died Feb. 3, 2005, at Burford Manor Nursing Home. She attended elementary school in Stratford and graduated from Davis High School. She Married Foster Hayes Thomas in 1940 at Davis, and they purchased the Frank Morgan Grocery in 1962, renaming it Thomas Grocery. She then managed a grocery store in Sulphur for Pauline Stumpff. A few years later they brought back their old grocery in Davis and operated it for several more years before auctioning it in 1976. After retiring from the grocery business, she worked as a U. S. rural route mail carrier in the Countyline and Ratliff City areas. She is survived by two children, a sister, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, two brothers, Vester and Lester Hawkins, a sister, Thelma Craig and a great grand- child. Pallbearers were Delford Fox, Randy Moore, Gary Fullerton, Joe Thomas, Buster Coppenbarger and Edgar Lee."
