Pastor Ron Roberson will officiate. Susie Ellen Elkins Turpin was born on July 8, 1934, in Lindsey, Oklahoma, and she passed away on May 24, 2003, in Bakersfield with her numerous family members by her side. Ellen is preceded in death by her mama and papa, Thomas and Flary Elkins and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Tommie Shipton and Vonnie Garrett; son and daughter-in- law, Ivan Buddy Turpin, II and Jean Wakeley; former husband and close friend, Ivan Turpin, I; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Loy and Leonard Elkins; sister, Stella Parks; half-sisters, Lorene Luff and Fayrene Kennedy; step-sisters, Lois and Donna; and step-brother, Fred. Ellen lost her mother early in life and was reared by her father, brothers and sisters. Ellen married Ivan F. Turpin, together they had 3 beautiful children that became her life. She loved her kids and family. She was a collector of many items. She left this world as quietly as she lived her life; and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
