Akin, 90, longtime resident of Cement, will be Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hodge Funeral Home Chapel, Fletcher, with Rev. Ed Whitley, Anadarko, officiating. Mrs. Akin died January 24, 2003, at a Lakeport, California, hospital. Burial will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery, Cyril, OK, under direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. She was born November 25, 1912, in Gerty, OK. She was raised in the Verden area and married Mikel Stewart Akin, October 6, 1928, in Chickasha. He died in 1984. She had lived in Cement until moving to California due to her health. Survivors include: 3 daughters: Thelma Boyle and her husband, Bill of Kelseyville, CA, Ellon Hatfield of Lakeport, CA, and Myrna Self and her husband, Arthur, of Cement; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 20 great, great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.
