ALBRIGHT Wanda L. Albright was a remarkable woman who overcame many hardships in her lifetime. After 63 years of fighting and inspiring others to do the same, Wanda died peacefully on Thursday, October 6th, 2005 at Glenhaven Retirement Center. On May 17th, 1942, Wanda L. Albright was born to Joe L. Chapman and Ella "Marie" Johnson. As a young girl, taking after her mother's charm, Wanda always had a smile to offer, regardless of the situation. That same charming young girl grew into a determined woman, whose accomplished included becoming an airplane mechanic, and a devoted mother of two. She also dealt with many serious health problems, all the while maintaining that smile. After retirement, Wanda took on another full time job that would continue until her last breath. She became a mentor to all who came into contact with her, especially the women in her life. There were none who crossed her path that she would not take in as her own. Wanda inspired all who knew her and will continue to do so, even in the spirit. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Joe L. Chapman, her son, Roy Lynn Grooms and one sister, Bobie Wallis. Her survivors include her mother, Marie Chapman of Chickasha; two sisters and their families, Loretta and Bill Palmer of Cushing; Donna and Dale Martin of Pocasset; daughter and son-in-law, Karleen and David Spencer of Howe, OK; grandsons, Jerrod Gray of Chickasha; David and Sarah Spencer of Howe, OK; granddaughters, Amanda and Timmy DeKinder of Chickasha; Danielle and Michael Mathews of Heavener, OK; Melissa and Patrick Mathews of Heavener, OK; 7 great grandchldren, Kimberly, Kyliegh, Devon, Megan, Jennifer, Shelby and Dalton, all of SE Oklahoma; and lifelong friends, Nadine Hendon, Kaye Lee and Carol Smith.
