All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Fairlawn Cemetery--Chickasha OK © The Chickasha Express-Star Sunday, 21 May 2006 Grady Lavell "Bill" Allen Funeral service for Grady Lavell "Bill" Allen, age 69 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2006, in the Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate. Grady Lavell "Bill" Allen was born on October 28, 1936, in Grady County, Oklahoma, the son of the late Clarence Lee Allen and Violet Carter Allen. He died on May 17, 2006, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill attended Chickasha High School graduating in 1955. After graduating from high school, he married Marianne Spears. That union was blessed with four children. After graduation, he worked for Morris Brothers Horse Trailer Company. He worked in the oilfields in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mississippi. Along with his brother-in-law, the late Ace Brunt, they opened Bar A Horse Trailer Company in 1967. In 1970, Bill organized B-Bar A Horse Trailer Company, which was in existence until 1988 at which time he joined the family owned business, Chickasha Nursing Center, with his sisters Wanda Brunt and Linda Martin. He was currently assistant administrator and vice-president. In 1994, he married Linda Brown. As a youngster, Bill had a love for the sport of rodeo and livestock. He donated the first horse trailer to Miss Rodeo Oklahoma in 1972. Bill was a charter member of the Chickasha Rodeo Foundation and had served as President since 1985. Over the years, Bill has developed many friendships with rodeo producers, contestants, announcers and fans. He continued to have horses and livestock. Bill was very talended and, as his peers commented, he can build or fix anything. He could pinstripe a horse trailer without an outline or markings. Bill collected classic vehicles and enjoyed restoring them. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, nephew, Stacy Brunt. Survivors include: wife: Linda Allen of the home; daughter: Jeannie Dunderdale of Chickasha; son: Gary Allen of Texas; daughter: Janet Allen of Lawton; stepdaughter & husband: Nicole & David Justice of Moore; stepson & wife: Troy & Melissa Buckley of Chickasha; sister: Wanda Brunt Story of Chickasha; sister & husband: Linda & Bob Martin of Chickasha; grandchildren: Misty, Clint, Cliff, Little Billy, Paige, Kaley, Rachel & Chance; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, & many friends. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
