Jeanne Whitener Anderson was born Easter Sunday, March 27, 1921, in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, delivered by Dr. Cox at 5:20 a.m. to Maggie and Clarence Whitener and died Saturday, September 9, 2000 in Santa Rosa, California. She attended Coffelt Grade School, graduated from Ninnekah High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women. She and J. D. Anderson were married May 20, 1939 at the First Presbyterian Church in Chickasha where she was a member. After her divorce September 29, 1950 in Oklahoma City, she then worked for Lane-Lamb Medical Clinic as medical secretary until moving to Dallas, Texas in 1953. In 1954 she went to work for Arabian American Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where she was private secretary to the Chief Law Counsel of Aramco. During her time in Arabia, she traveled extensively visiting the Holy Land, Egypt, Europe and came home to San Francisco via the Orient, completing her trip around the world. Upon arriving in San Francisco in 1962, she worked for Chevron Oil Company until retiring April 1, 1980. She lived in San Francisco until 1993 when she moved to Santa Rosa, California. Jeanne was preceded in death by: 2 brothers: Gerald and Ralph Whitener Survivors include: 2 sisters: Louise Lambert of Baltimore, Maryland, Reggie Kosta and husband, James Kosta, Jr. of Santa Rosa, California; 5 nieces: Mary Lambert Eck of Springfield, Missouri, Jeanne Kosta Mead of Lawrence, Kansas, Nancy Whitener Teague of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Jeri Lynn Whitener Terry of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Terri Lynn Whitener Rowe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 6 nephews: Gerald Allen Whitener of Odessa, Texas, James R. Whitener of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James Kosta III of Santa Rosa, California, Mark Eck, Gary Teague and Don Mead; cousins: Cora and Albert Whitener and Lee Hawkins, Jim Bob and Wayne Whitener; Uncle Claude and Ruby Whitener of Cordell, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Submitted by Sandi Carter
