Anderton, 66, a retired parts distribution manager for 37 years with Montgomery Ward, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Ray C. Anderton was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Tuttle, Okla. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Samaritan House, AIDS Outreach Center, Catholic Charities, TGRA, MHMR of Tarrant County, Weatherford AIDS Counsel, Imperial Court DE of Fort Worth/Arlington, Cowtown Leatherman, Trinity River Bears, GPW, GLBT Community, and Tarrant County AIDS Walk. Mayor Mike Moncreif declared June 12, 2004, as Ray Anderton Day in the city of Fort Worth. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Bradford Anderton; and stepfather, Charles Blake. Survivors: Mother, Dorothy Blake; stepmother, Eula Anderton; sisters, Peggy Frizzell, Mary Gonzales, Dorothy Young, Paula Cole and Pam Green; many nieces and nephews; and good friends, Gary Rogers and James Allen.
