Beckes Funeral service for J.C. Beckes, 87, of Rush Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2001, in the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel with Paul Phipps officiating. J.C. Beckes was born November 1, 1913, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to P.C. Beckes and Maude (Miller) Beckes, and died Saturday, September 15, 2001, in Rush Springs. He married Thelma (Farmer) Beckes July 26, 1935, in Chickasha. J.C. was a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 1977 from Grady County from the 19th Seed Company. He had been a resident of Rush Springs for 55 years and attended Cushing Schools. He was very creative and built dozens of different types of machines. He enjoyed playing dominoes, loved his family and his daughter and granddaughters-in-law. J.C. had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke with people. He is preceded in death by: his parents and 3 brothers: Luther, Jack and Paul Beckes. He is survived by his wife: Thelma Beckes of the home; son: Duane Beckes, Venezuela; 2 daughters: Jeanette Phipps and husband Glen of Rush Springs, Linda Wallace and husband Larry of Wanette; 2 sisters: Nettie Icenogle of Rush Springs and Sybil Rhodes of Fresno, CA; 2 brothers: Lonnie Beckes of Springfield, MO, and Wayne Beckes of Yuma, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Randy Beckes, Brian Phipps, Michael Phipps, Landal Wallace, Kyle Woods and Paul Phipps. Jim Icenogle will be an honorary pallbearer.
