Karen Bateman was born November 14, 1949, in Guthrie, OK, the daughter of Harold and Juanita Bateman. She died Monday, August 5, 2002, in Westminster, CO. Karen was a teacher and an accountant and was a member of the Broomfield Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, calligraphy, embroidery, movies, music, teaching, helping others and writing poetry. Karen also enjoyed her duties as a sign language interpreter. She had an amazing spirit, valued education and loved to read. She had a great sense of humor, and loved her family and friends. Karen is survived by her mother, Juanita Bateman of Chickasha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kerry and Teresa Bateman of Huntington Beach, CA, and Alen and Lynn Bateman of Grand Junction, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Clint Rakowitz of Adkins, TX; nieces Susanne, Ashley, Keri Dawn, Amanda and Pamela; nephew Tanner; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
