All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Verden Cemetery--Verden OK The Verden News April 17, 1942 RITES HELD MONDAY FOR JOYCE VEE BLEVINS Joyce Vee Blevins, 9 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blevins, died about 4:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Chickasha hospital where she had been under medical treatment for the past 10 days. Joyce was a fourth grade pupil in Verden schools, she became ill with measles several weeks ago and other complications causing her death. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church with Rev. Leach, assisted by Rev. Spann, officiating. Music for the service was furnished by Miss Adeline MaGuire, Miss Georgia Woodall. Miss Imogene Powell and Miss Louise Ransbarger sang "Asleep In Jesus," "Safe In the Arms of Jesus" and "Sweet Bye and Bye" with Miss Colita Nuernberger at the piano. Surviving members of the family are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blevins; two brothers, Loyd and Buster; one sister, Faybelle, and four grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Blevins of Tipton, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Carothers of Verden. Casket bearers for the service were Hugh Bohannon, Edward MaGuire and Johnnie Whitley.
