Chuck Dollarhide officiating. She was born November 30, 1901 in Nebraska to J.K. and Nettie (Keyes) Phelps and died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 in Oklahoma City. She married Henry Fred Balke on May 24, 1926 in Chickasha and had lived in the Minco community all of her life. She attended and graduated from Oklahoma Teachers College attaining her teaching certificate. She was a member of the Minco United Methodist Church, a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Minco, a charter member of the Minco Easter Star Lodge, a homemaker and a wallpaper hanger. Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Henry, on February 28, 1954; one son, George Balke, on March 26, 1980; 6 brothers, Lee, Clarence, Julian, Fred, Pat Sr. and Don; and two sisters, Mae Mozer and Julia Darnell. She is survived by: one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and David Martinez of Oklahoma City; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Geraldine Phelps of Moore; two sisters, Leona Fowler of Minco and Louise Humphrey of Sand Springs; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco.
