R. Blades Funeral service for T.R. Blades, age 82, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in the College Heights Baptist Church. Rev. James Swain and Rev. C.A. "Pete" Spradlin will officiate. T.R. Blades was born on November 21, 1918, the son of Elmer Toledo Blades and Lula Raye O'Rear Blades, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He died on Sunday, April 29, 2001, in Chickasha. T.R. grew up on the family farm northeast of Rush Springs. He graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1936. T.R. joined the United States Army Infantry in 1942 and served during World War II. He married Ileta Ruth Shackelford on January 2, 1942, in Rush Springs. After his discharge from the Army, he moved to Rush Springs. T.R. lived in Perry, Oklahoma, for seventeen years where he worked for the Long Bell Lumber Company and as an insurance adjuster. He moved to Chickasha in 1970, and worked for General Adjustment Company. He later became an independent insurance adjuster. T.R. was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Floyd and Roy Lee Blades. Survivors include his wife, Ileta Blades of the home; daughter, Tommie Ruth Alexander of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl Rhea and Jim K. Smith of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Alfred Blades of Rush Springs; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Service will be under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
