Bullard was born Feb. 26, 1928 and died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 in Chickasha. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 28 October 2002 BILLY JUNIOR (BILL) BULLARD Funeral Mass for Billy Junior (Bill) Bullard, 74, of Chickasha, will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at 12 noon in the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Elmer C. Schwarz officiating. A wake service is set for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. The son of William and Blanche (Case) Bullard, Bill died Sunday, October 26, 2002, in Chickasha. Born February 26, 1928, in Paden, Oklahoma, Bill was raised on a farm and attended Paden Schools, graduating from Paden High School in 1944. He attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, where he was a member of the Army ROTC. He entered the U.S. Army in 1946. Bill married Linda Gilbertie of West Port, Connecticut, on May 13, 1948, in Stillwater. The couple and their family moved to Chickasha, where he was a Grady County Farm Bureau agent for 39 years. Bill was a great friend to both agricultural and civic communities. In 1988, he was honored by the Grady County Fairboard in appreciation of 26 years of service. He was also honored as Oklahoma Farm Bureau agent of the year. Bill had a love of and talent for sports and at one time played semiprofessional baseball. He used that talent to coach Little League and American Legion baseball in Chickasha for many years. Also a skilled golfer, Bill was an active member of the Chickasha Golf and Country Club, serving on the board of directors. Plaques commemorate a hole-in-one he hit in 1979 and a first place finish in the championship flight of the Swing for Sight Golf Tournament in 1989. A man of strong family values, Bill was devoted to his wife, Linda, and their children and grandchildren. Linda loved to tell the story of how he awakened sleeping babies so he could play with them when he got home from work. Bill was preceded by both parents, his wife Linda, and one son, David, who died in 1954. Survivors include five sons and their spouses: William Bullard of Oklahoma City, Gene Bullard of Owasso, Chris and Sharon Bullard of Marlow, Rick and Lori Bullard of Cashion, and Don and Candi Bullard of Oklahoma City; two daughters and spouse: Mary and Wendel Whisenhunt of Oklahoma City, and Barbara Startz of Norman; his brother and sister-in-law, C. L. and Ann Bullard of Prague; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Diane Gilbertie, Michael Gilbertie and Shirley Gilbertie, all of West Port, Connecticut; seventeen grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Interment will be Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at 4:00 p.m. in Oakdale Cemetery in Paden, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Chickasha Little League Baseball Organization at 603 South 7th Street, Chickasha, Oklahoma 73018.
