Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dale Dunn, pastor of Lamount Drive Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. Mr. Benge was born in Chickasha, Okla., and in 1936 moved to Miami, where he graduated from Miami High School. He was an equipment operator for Coastal Corp. for 27 years and a former member of the Miami School Board. He was also a member of First Baptist Church and of the American Legion for more than 40 years. He married Inez Bryant in 1961 at Miami. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marla Jackson and Jodie Adams, both of Miami and Kara Benge of Denver, N.C.; a son, Brian Benge of Amarillo; a twin brother, Burl Benge of Canadian; four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Legion Pulaski Post No. 106 in Miami.
