The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== The Tuttle Times: 4 November 2002 GERALD WAYNE BENTON Funeral service for Gerald Wayne Benton, 66, of Tuttle, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 in the chapel of Sevier Funeral Home in Tuttle. Gerald Wayne Benton was born April 24, 1936 in Sturgeon, Mo. He was the son of Moon Anderson and Gladys Benton. He died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Benton attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. He had worked as an over the road truck driver, a computer technician for the FAA and as director of recycling for Canadian County in El Reno. He served on the Governor’s Advisory Committee for Agricultural Reform. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956 and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of the VFW, Teamsters, American Legion, DAV, Freelance Photographers and AARP. He was a loving husband and father. To friends and family he was extremely charitable. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eackley, and his parents. Survivors include one son, William Benton of Tuttle; three daughters, Gail Caldwell of Lafayette, La., Angela Mendoza of Tuttle and Mary Benton of Lafayette, La.; and five grandchildren, PFC Christopher Caldwell of Ft. Benning, Ga., Nicholas Caldwell, Melody Benton and Mikah Lavergne of Lafayette, La., and Dezulynn Benton of Tuttle. Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home of Tuttle. --------------------------------------------------------------------
