BURKE Funeral services for Robert J. Burke, 66, of Pocasset, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Pocasset First Baptist Church. Robert J. Burke was born March 2, 1936, and died on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star 9 January 2003 ROBERT J. BURKE Funeral services for Robert J. Burke, age 66, of Pocasset, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2003, in the Pocasset First Baptist Church. Roy Edge, Jason Kissinger, and David Oden will officiate. Robert J. Burke was born the son of Joseph White Burke and Ruth Margaret Todd Burke, on March 2, 1936, in Harbor City, California. He died on January 7, 2003, at his home in Pocasset. Robert was the oldest of six children. He helped with family situations by working jobs in his teen years. As he got older he helped his parents establish two mobile home parks which brought stability to the family income. During this time, Robert served in the Navy Reserves. He later moved to Prescott, Arizona, with his two young children, where he met his wife, Sheila. They were married on May 27, 1977, in Prescott, Arizona, where their third child was born. While he worked for the FAA, he enjoyed his hobby of flying his plane. Robert moved his family to Oklahoma in 1989, where he later retired with thirty years of service with the FAA. During this time, he worked as an instructor and enjoyed raising registered Texas Longhorns on his ranch in Pocasset, where his heart will always be. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nancy (Burke) Gauthier and Karen Burke. Survivors include: wife: Sheila Burke of Pocasset; son: David Burke of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter: Diana Burke of Tulsa; daughter: Robin Burke of Oklahoma City; brother: Garry Burke of Banden, Oregon; sister: Linda Burke of Banden, Oregon; sister: Susan Harger of Reno, Nevada; three grandchildren. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Burke Memorial Fund at Chickasha Bank for the American Cancer Society. --------------------------------------------------------------------
