Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2002, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Phil Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma. Mrs. Barrett was born July 20, 1915, to Luther Thomas and Florence A. Floyd Butler, who farmed west of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. On November 25, 1939, she married Earl Woodford Young in Norman, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1962. On July 21, 1976, May married Radford J. Barrett in Amarillo, Texas. In 1982, they retired to Norman to be closer to their "Sooners." She was an avid football and basketball fan, as well as an accomplished bridge player and grandmother. Mrs. Barrett was also preceded in death by five brothers, Tom, Haskell, Darold, Louis Ray and Billy Butler; four sisters, Grace Benito, Hazel Hart, Mildred Evans and Madge Barrick; and a grandson, Earl Woodford Young III. She is survived by her husband, Rad, of the home; son, Earl W. "Woody" Young and wife, Penny, of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jana and husband, Wayne Dabney, of Chickasha, OK; stepdaughters, Debby and Patty Barrett of Edinburg, TX; grandchildren, Dan and Amy Young, Christian and Haley of Pittsburg, PA., Chris and Amy Young and Sydney Kate of Plano, TX, Julie and Matt Devoti, Joseph and Sophia May of St. Louis, MO, and Brian Dabney and fiancee, Hillary Ramsey, of St. Louis, MO; and one sister, Florine Coil of Richardson, TX. Family requests that memorial contributions be made to McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church Building fund at 419 S. University Blvd., Norman, OK 73069 or the charity of their choice.
