Brown was born on April 1, 1910. She died on Aug. 26, 2000. Submitted by Sandi Carter ========== The Chickasha Star-Express 29 August 2000 Virdie Catherine Brown Graveside service for Virdie Catherine Brown, age 90 of Chickasha was held at 200 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2000, in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Rev. Edward Whitley officiated. Virdie was born the daughter of John Long and Ada Jane Newman Long on April 1, 1910, in Binger, Oklahoma. She died on August 26, 2000, in Chickasha. Virdie grew up in the Gracemont and Anadarko area. She later moved to Chickasha where she lived most of her life. Virdie was a loving mother and grandmother who spent her life taking care of her family. She also loved to crochet. Virdie was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, one sister, and her son, Arbie Clayton Long. She is survived by a son and his wife, Harry J. and Blanche Long of Chickasha; son, Raymond Brown of Chickasha; daughter, Dorothy Stevens of Verden; daughter, Mary Jo Long of Chickasha; sister, Mary Baggett of Chickasha; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews including local residents, Juanita Box and Helen Marshall. Services were under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
