Services are pending with Yoakum-Damet Funeral Home in Purcell. =========== Jimmy Ray Brown Norman Transcript 09/23/2003 Jimmy Ray Brown, 52, of Chickasha died Friday, Sept. 19, in Oklahoma City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Yoakum-Damet Memory Chapel in Purcell with the Rev. Jeff Pierce officiating. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery. Yoakum-Damet Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Brown was born June 27, 1951, in Fresno, Calif., to Johnnie Ben and Nora Irene Langston Brown. His parents traveled a lot when he was young. When he was a teenager, they moved to Vian, where he attended high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired Nov. 30, 1988, after 22 years of service. His family said he had a knack for repairing small engines after he retired. He owned a small engine repair business in Lexington and a tavern in Chickasha. He was a service technician at John Deere in Lindsay when he died. He was a Methodist. His family said he was diversified in his talents. Mr. Brown is survived by his son, John Lee Brown of San Antonio; daughter, Sutteer Voeller of Tahlequah; four grandchildren; brother, John Robert Brown of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Sandy Brown of Orlando, Beverly “Sam” Newman of Purcell, Nora Beason of Lexington and Janice Brown of Apoplcia, Fla.; and many other family members and friends. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
