Joseph Russell Barron was born May 31, 1992, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Bobby Barron. He died Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at his home in Chickasha. Joey and his family moved to Chickasha in 1993. He attended Chickasha Public Schools and was currently in the 5th grade at Lincoln Elementary. He enjoyed baseball and loved cooking meals for his family. He was known by his family to cook up some wild and strange and exciting recipes. Joey was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2003 and fought it courageously. After his diagnosis was confirmed he and his family were blessed with the generosity of many people within the community. One of his highlights was the chauffeur-driven limousine ride he received to an O.U. football game in Norman and meeting Oklahoma University Sooner Football Coach Bob Stoops. Joey was a member of the Full Gospel Church. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, brother, Joe Barron, great grandmother, Jessie Musik, and his maternal grandfather, Russell Jumper. Survivors include his parents, Bobby Joe Barron, Sr. and Karen Jumper Barron, both of the home; one brother, Bobby Joe Barron, Jr., and one sister, Samantha Leigh Barron, both of the home; grandmothers Evelyn Estel Barron, of Chickasha, and Betty Holcomb Orr, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; a great grandmother, Minnie Jumper, of Tahlequah; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Joey's name to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Grady County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/grady/grady.html
