"SHORTY" BURNS Funeral service for James W. "Shorty" Burns, 99, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2002, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. James W. "Shorty" Burns was born November 11, 1903, in Kossie, Texas, the son of James Wesley and Margie Ellen (Harris) Burns, and died November 27, 2002, in Chickasha. Mr. Burns, in his early years, was raised in Blanchard, Middleberg and Tabler. He moved to Chickasha in 1928. Mr. Burns did carpenter work in California, Las Vegas, Nevada and Oklahoma for many years. He was of Baptist belief. He and Annie Gertrude Gray were married November 25, 1930. She preceded him in death. Mr. Burns was a member of Carpenter Union Local #329 for 59 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and sister, 5 sisters and 3 grandchildren. Survivors include: 4 sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Marjorie Burns of Chickasha, Coy and Deanna Burns of Cypress, California, James T. and Kayla Burns of East Alton, Illinois, George W. and Lawanna Burns of Cypress, California; 3 daughters and 2 sons- in-law: Jean and Don Keef of Chickasha, Oklahoma, June and Bill Flippo of Victoria, Texas, Sonja Smith of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren; 1 sister: Ellie Gore of Kingman, Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; 2 very special friends: Linda Vincent and Debbie Lovelace. Interment will be in the Blanchard Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. --------------------------------------------------------------------
