Persons or organizations desiring to use this material for purposes other than stated above must obtain the written consent of the file contributor. ====================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 21 March 2001 Leonard Jonah Pedro Burns Funeral services for Leonard Jonah L.J., "Pedro" Burns, 88, of Cement, will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. in the Cyril Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Bob Settle officiating. Leonard J. Burns was born September 23, 1912 in Russellville, Okla. He was the thirteenth son of William David and Alice Arizona (Bradburn) Burns. He died Sunday, March 18, 2001 in Grady Memorial Hospital. He moved to Pocasset as a young man where he helped out with the family farm. Leonard and Flora Ida Mae Wright were married on September 20, 1941, at Anadarko, Okla. From this union their seven children were born: Geraldine Baker of Cement, Monetha and Bruce Justice of Apache, Charlie and Tanya Burns of Devol, Oklahoma, Anna Mae Fulton of Cement, David and Vicki Burns of Cyril, Dovie and John Thompson of Marlow, OK, and Bill Burns of Chickasha. Leonard and Flora farmed in the Cement area for many years. They have been residents of the Cement community for 57 years. Leonard was employed with the Public Services Company of Oklahoma out of Lawton for 20 years. He retired in 1976. He was also a veteran of the 306th Training Group Air Corps in Sheppard Field, Texas. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers, one sister, one grandson, John Jeffrey Heritage III of Cement, one great grandson, Colton Burns of Cyril, one son-in-law Butch Fulton of Cement. He is survived by his wife, Flora of the home, seven children, twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, one brother, Talley Burns of Chickasha, and numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Fulton, Mark Fulton, Curtis Baker, John Thompson, Jeff Williams and Chris Webb. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Baker, Butch Floyd Fulton Jr. and David Law. Internment will be in the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
