"Johnny" Brinkley Funeral service for Roy D. (Johnny) Brinkley, age 81 of Pocasset, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Roy D. (Johnny) Brinkley was born the son of John J. Brinkley and Dora Bell Woody Brinkley on October 5, 1924, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. He died on March 31, 2006, at his home in Pocasset. Johnny moved to Arizona as a young man. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served during World War II. After his discharge, Johnny moved back to Rush Springs. He married Dortha Dolch on June 21, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They lived in Arizona for 21 years and then moved to their home north of Pocasset. Johnny was a supervisor for Midwest Towers for many years. He retired at the age of 65. Johnny was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bryce and Dalton Brinkley, five sisters, Ella Taylor, Esther Brown, Opal Andrews, Maudie Bell Terrell, and Nellie Burkhalter. Survivors include: wife, Dortha Brinkley of Pocasset; daughter & husband: Phyllis & Jack Mitchell of Monticello, Iowa; grandson & wife: Paul & Misty Gabriele of Monticello, Iowa; granddaughter & husband: Jackie & Phil Lambert of Monticello, Iowa; granddaughter: Jamie Appleby of Monticello, Iowa; grandson & wife: Steve & Jennifer Mitchell of Lewisville, Texas; six great grandchildren: Kirsten & Alan, Katie & Kody, Danny & Jazzmine; sister: Malivene Austin of Rush Springs. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.
