Brandon The Chickasha Express-Star 19 April 2001 Funeral services for Edna F. Brandon, 86, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2001, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Edna F. Brandon was born on Feb. 3, 1915. She died on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Chickasha. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Convington Cemetery, Covington, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. ==================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 20 April 2001 Edna Frances Brandon Funeral services for Edna Frances Brandon, 86, of Covington, Oklahoma, will be held on Friday, April 20, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Horton officiating. Edna F. Brandon was born on February 3, 1915, in Caney, Oklahoma, the daughter of John C. Sample and Rhoda Dallas Sample. She died on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Chickasha. When Edna was a child, her family moved to Bennington, Oklahoma, from Caney, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Bennington High School in 1936. On December 22, 1940, Edna married LeRoy Brandon in Durant, Oklahoma. During World War II, Edna worked for Douglas Aircraft as a mechanic. From 1937 to 1946, she worked for Dr. Sawyer at the Evergreen Sanitarium in Durant, Oklahoma. In 1946, she received her Oklahoma State Board of Embalmers License. Later that year, they moved to Covington where she operated the tag agency. >From 1959 to 1960, she was DAV auxiliary commander in Covington and was elected to state commander in 1963-64. She also worked for several years at the State School for Children in Enid, Oklahoma, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Christian Union Church in Douglas, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Elbert Sample and Oscar Sample, sister-in-law, Pat Sample, and brother-in-law, Rex Ziemer. She is survived by one son, his wife and their family, Tom and Lori Brandon, Chris and Denny of Bairoil, Wyoming; sisters Arline Epperson and husband Joe of Chickasha, Evelyn Griffith and husband, Aubry, of Durant; brothers, Earl Sample and wife Neta of Bennington, OK, Loyd Sample and wife Jalaska of Bennington, OK, Cecil Sample of Cement, OK, Oliver Sample and wife Donna of Cement, OK, Verline Sample and wife Joyce of Sherman, TX, sisters-in-law, Fern Ziemer of Lyons, Kansas, Dorothy Sprouse and husband Ron of Columbia, Missouri, Pauline Sample of Durant, OK and Christine Sample of Bennington, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Covington Cemetery in Covington, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
