Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Rachel Shapard, Vista Care Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in . The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Cleo was born April 15, 1915, in Rush Springs, Okla., to Mac and Ruby Chambers. She grew up in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1933. After graduating beauty school and working for several years as a beautician, she married Horace Barton in 1944. They began their married life in a small community outside Lamesa, where she became a dedicated housewife and wonderful mother to two children. In 1956, she and her family moved to Lubbock. Through the years she was a room mother, Brownie leader, den mother, bible school teacher and Sunday School teacher. She was a 40 year member of Trinity Baptist Church and also was a member of the Senior Choir. She loved to needlepoint, cook and garden. Following the death of her husband, she became a gift wrapper at Gourmet Pantry, where she worked for 23 years and assisted her daughter in the growth of the business. She was loved by her family, co-workers, and customers. Cleo is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Horace. She is survived by her children, Jane Fowler and husband Ed of Lubbock; her son, John Barton and wife Ann of San Antonio; and two grandchildren, Aaron Fowler and Sarah Barton. Cleo is also survived by three brothers, Clevis Chambers of Brownfield, Carl Chambers of Odessa, and Claude Chambers of Austin and one sister, Doris Gannon of Ft. Worth. The family suggests donations be sent to the Children's Miracle Network.
