Cook Funeral services honoring the life of long-time Chickasha resident Thomas J. Cook will be held Thursday, March 21, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Thomas J. Cook was born November 16, 1929, in Earlsboro, Oklahoma, the son of Luther "Shorty" Cook and Mary Sturgell Cook. He died Monday, March 18, 2002, in San Marcos, Texas. A 1949 graduate of Chickasha High School, Tom served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1951-1953. Tom married Marcella McCrea, May 15, 1952, at the First Christian Church of Chickasha. They were to have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Traveling throughout southwestern Oklahoma, Tom was district sales manager for Gilt Edge Farms for over twenty-six years. Tom was employed with Dr. Pepper from which he recently retired. Over the years he was active in local bowling and softball leagues. After his retirement a friendly game of dominoes and watching his grandchildren play sports brought him much enjoyment. A loving father and husband, Tom will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by father, Luther, "Shorty" Sturgell. Survivors include his wife, Marcella, of the home; his mother, Mary Sturgell Baggett; five children and their spouses, Bill and Kathy Cook, of Terrell, Texas, Carol and Randell Sellers, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Thomas and Darla Cook, of Mesa, Arizona, Marsha and Charles Camp, of Chickasha, Gary and Marilu Cook, of Chickasha; nine grandchildren, Andrew and Karan Cook, of Mason, Ohio, Corey and Cliff Wren, of Spring, Texas, Zac Sellers, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Paul and Stacy Merveldt, of Redding, California, Thomas Cook, of Auburn, Alabama, Aaron Cook, of Huntsville, Alabama, Thomas Camp, Christopher Camp and Tiffany Cook, all of Chickasha; and three great grandchildren.
