All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Anadarko Daily News 3 June 1985 RUTH COX VERDEN - Services for Ruth Fisher Cox, 89-year-old Verden resident, were held at 10 a.m. today in the Verden First Baptist Church with the Rev. Burl Mackey, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Marvin Willis. Mrs. Cox was born April 5, 1896 in Pekin, Ill., and died Saturday in Chickasha. She moved to Fort Cobb with her parents as a child and was later married to James Harvey Cox. The couple farmed in the Verden and Dutton area a number of years. After retiring from farming, they moved to Anadarko where they operated the South Side Grocery until August 1957. They then moved to Verden. Her husband died Dec. 29, 1957. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Church of Christ. She had been a resident of the Shannon Springs Nursing Home in Chickasha the past four years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Olven M., Vernon H., and J. W. Cox; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher; four brothers, four sisters, and a grandson. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Walt (Beulah) Unruh of Verden; two sons, Howard Cox of Gaffney, S. C., and Kenneth Cox of Chickasha; a sister, Mrs. Rhonda Pollock of Vallejo, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.
