Cole, 94, of Chickasha, are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home. Mason J. Cole was born December 2, 1910. He died Thursday, May 5, 2005 ========= The Chickasha Express-Star 9 May 2005 MASON J. COLE Funeral services for Mason J. Cole, 94, of Chickasha, were held Monday, May 9, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Robert Dye officiating and Tyler and Kyle Norvell assisting. Mason J. Cole was born December 2, 1910, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Samuel M. Cole and Emma K. Kimbro Cole. He died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home in Chickasha. He grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School. Mason met Mattie Ellen Laws while working together at Kress store in Chickasha. They were married February 29, 1936, in Chickasha. They were married for 67 wonderful years, but were only able to celebrate 16 of those years on the anniversary date, due to being married on a leap year. They made their first home in Chickasha, but in 1940, they moved to Eagle Rock, California, where he worked for Lockheed Aircraft, as an airplane mechanic. While in California, their daughter, Nancy Mae was born. They returned to Chickasha in 1946, where they have lived since. Mason worked at Standard Cable for several years then purchased Scholastic Service, where he and Mattie worked together reconditioning football equipment for Oklahoma and Texas schools. Mason was a Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church. He taught the Friendship class for fifty-five years, which brought him joy beyond words. He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Mattie; two brothers, Kenneth and James Cole; and one sister, Opal Fawley. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Robert Norvell, of Amber, Oklahoma; Grandchilren; Steve and Cheri Norvell, and Stanley Norvell, of Amber, Oklahoma, Richard and Renee Kirk, of Tuttle, Oklahoma; Great grandchildren: Tyler, Julie & Kyle Norvell, of Amber, Oklahoma, Chase Carel, of Tuttle, Olahoma; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Laws, of Fayetteville, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Amber building fund.
