A. L. Swagerty and Rev. Randy McFarland, pastor, First Baptist Church, Fletcher, officiating. Mr. Culbertson died Sunday, May 5, 2002, in a Lawton Hospital. Services are under the direction of Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. Kenneth was born September 27, 1925, in Amber, OK, where he attended and graduated from high school there in 1942. He married Norma Harris on January 20, 1946, in Chickasha. He served in the U. S. Army 1946-1947, returned to this area and worked at the River Road Hereford Farm in Chickasha for Dr. McClure 1950-1958, and then for Robert A. Collier, Hallwood Shorthorn Farm, of Fletcher, 1958-1979. His wife Norma died September 1, 1972, and he later married Vida Ruth (Braley) Dees, December 15, 1977, in Wichita Falls, TX. He retired from farming in 1979 and worked at Maremont Corporation in Chickasha for 10 years. Kenneth completed training courses at Canadian Valley Technology Center in Chickasha and began his own business repairing lawn mowers and small engines in this area until ill health from a stroke and heart surgery forced him to stop. He was an honorary Chapter Farmer for the Fletcher FFA, was awarded the Presidential Award of Honor from the Lawton Jaycees and was a member of the American Legion Post 193. Kenneth enjoy life to the fullest. One of his very favorite pastimes was dancing and visiting with his many friends. Survivors include: his wife, Vida Ruth, of the home; daughters: Sue Collier, of Wichita Falls, TX, Dianna Simmons and her husband, Steve, of Marlow, DeAnn Dees, of Fletcher; sons: Kenneth Terrell Culbertson, Jr., and his wife, Lynda, of Anna, TX, Charles Ray Culbertson and his wife, Sheilah, of Fletcher, David Dees and his wife, Janie, of Elgin, and Bailey Dees, of Chickasha; grandchildren: Patrick and Aaron Collier, Victoria Culbertson Wa lden, Lisa Gentry, Brandi and Lindsey Culbertson, Kennon and Cole Davis, Christy and Ryan Dees; great grandchildren: Dakota Walden, Chase Culbertson and Kilee Gentry; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mr. Culbertson was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Culbertson and Elsie (Boycott) Culbertson, his wife, Norman, his son, Rickey Dale Culbertson, 3 brothers, Melvin, Earl and Walter "Shorts" Culbertson, and four sisters, Carol Ray Culbertson, Cura Faye "Coots" Edon, Elizabeth Cralle and Viva Collier. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
