All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution May 7, 2002 Kenneth Terrell Culbertson Sr. FLETCHER — Graveside service for Kenneth Terrell Culbertson Sr., 76, Fletcher, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Cemetery with the Revs. A.L. Swagerty and Randy McFarland, pastor, Fletcher First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Culbertson died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at a Lawton hospital. Arrangements are by Hodge Funeral Home, Fletcher. He was born Sept. 27, 1925, in Amber, where he graduated from high school in 1942. He married Norma Harris on Jan. 20, 1946, in Chickasha. She died Sept. 1, 1972. He married Vida Ruth Braly Dees on Dec. 15, 1977, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He served in the Army from 1946-47, returned to this area and worked at River Road Hereford Farm in Chickasha for Dr. McClure from 1950-58. He worked for Robert A. Collier, Hallwood Shorthorn Farm of Fletcher, from 1958-79. He retired from farming in 1979 and worked at Maremont Corporation in Chickasha for 10 years. He completed training at Canadian Valley Technical Center in Chickasha and began his own business repairing lawn mowers and small engines until ill health forced him to stop. He was an honorary chapter farmer for the Fletcher FFA. He was awarded the Presidential Award of Honor from the Lawton Jaycees and was a member of American Legion Post 193. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters and a son-in-law: Sue Collier, Wichita Falls, Texas; Dianna and Steve Simmons, Marlow; and DeAnn Dees, Fletcher; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Kenneth Terrell Jr. and Lynda Culbertson, Anna, Texas; Charles Ray and Sheilah Culbertson, Fletcher; David and Janie Dees, Elgin; and Bailey Dees, Chickasha; 10 grandchildren: Patrick and Aaron Collier, Victoria Culbertson Walden, Lisa Gentry, Brandi and Lindsey Culbertson, Keenon and Cole Davis and Christy and Ryan Dees; three great-grandchildren: Dakota Walden, Chase Culbertson and Kilee Gentry; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Culbertson and Elsie Boycott Culbertson; a son, Rickey Dale Culbertson; three brothers: Melvin, Earl and Walter "Shorts" Culbertson; four sisters: Carol Ray Culbertson, Cura Faye "Coots" Edon, Elizabeth Cralle and Viva Collier.
