Collins Funeral for John A. Collins, 73, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at University Church of Christ. Mr. Collins died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at a local hospital. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born May 29, 1928, in Chickasha. He moved to Lawton as a boy and attended Lawton High School. He married Anne Gray on Aug. 12, 1949, in Iraan, Texas. He worked as a car, insurance and furniture salesman, as well as for Halliburton Industries. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1992. He had been a member of University Church of Christ since 1959 and was a past member of the I.O.O.F. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Stephen and Paula Collins, St. Louis, Mo.; Scott and Kimberly Collins, Tulsa; and Kent and Shawna Collins, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Glenn Young, Cedar Hill, Texas; a brother, Jack Collins, Dallas; three sisters: Bonnie Hawes, Bristow; Ginger Harrell, Shreveport, La.; and Mary Kinston, Tucson, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren: Amber, Charles, Addison, Lane, Tara, Corinne and Chance. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene; and a sister, Dorothy Boling. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Lu Jo Kismif Children’s Camp.
