Conquest died unexpectedly late Tuesday in his home here. He came to Chickasha in 1906 as a brakeman for the Rock Island railroad and later served as conductor from 1913 until his retirement in 1938. He was born April 13, 1876, in Dresden, Kan. He was a member of the Epworth Methodist church, the Order of Railway Conductors and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. Surviving is a dauther, Mrs. Gladys Elrod, Newport Beach, Calif.; a brother Roy, Antelope, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Mercer, Tulsa; Mrs. J. P. Koehler, Overlon, Kan., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. T. H. Bennett, Checkasha, and one grandson. OBITUARY Sudden Heart Attack is Fatal to Fred Conquest Death came suddenly to Fred Conquest aged 76 years, of 1325 S. 9th, Tuesday evening about 11 o'clock. Mr. Conqeust had attended the ball game and had returned to his home when he was stricken. A native of Kansas, he came to Chickasha in 1906 when he became connected with the Rock Island and worked first as brakeman then as a passenger conductor until he retired in 1938. He was a member of the Epworth Methodist church. The Rev. Earl Walker will conduct the funeral services Friday afternoon at 2 PM in the chapel of the Chickasha Funeral Home. He will be assisted by Rev. Tom Dove, pastor of the Tinity Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Conquest was for years a member of the Order of Railway Conductors of America and the Brotherhood of Railway trainmen. He is survived by one daughter and brother, two sisters, one sister-in-law, Mrs. T. H. Bennett of Chickasha and one grandson.
