Pearl R. (Shook) Cannedy, the daughter of Minnie and Andy Shook, was born on September 24, 1907, in Dennison, Texas. She passed from this life on Sunday, May 5, 2002, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Pearl was a lifetime resident of Caddo County. In 1910, as a child of three years, she and her parents, Andy and Minnie Shook, along with her brothers and sisters moved to Gracemont, Oklahoma. While attending high school, Pearl had to leave her family and move to a boarding house that was near the school. In 1927, she married John Cannedy, and they went into farming. Their marriage resulted in five children: Gracie, Ella, Jerrold, John and Cleatus. She had lived on the family farm for the past fifty-nine years. Pearl grew up and was saved in the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Pearl was also a longtime member of the Verden First Baptist Church, where she remained active until her death. She loved to attend church and Sunday School, and loved her fellow members with a special status for her pastor, Johnny Wray. She taught her children to fear the Lord and will be greatly missed by them, her grandchildren and many friends. She loved to crochet, garden, grow flowers and talk about the past. She shared many stories about the old days with her grandchildren. Pearl is now at peace and rejoicing in heaven with her beloved husband, John, son, Cleatus, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
