She passed away on August 17, 2001, in Ft. Worth, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Mildred Morris was born on Oct. 28, 1919, in Lone Wolf, OK. She grew up in Chickasha and married John Harrison (Chick) Cherry on Aug. 23, 1943. She was a homemaker and was employed at the Ft. Worth Star Telegram for 23 years, retiring in 1987. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alpha Morris King, and two brothers, Willie Morris and Ted Morris. She is survived by her husband, John H. (Chick) Cherry, daughters, Madeline Byrd, Ft. Worth, Tx, Martha Johnson, Weatherford, Tx; sons, John Cherry, Jr., Arlington, Tx, David Cherry, Azle, Tx; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Cleo Lubin and Margaret Struve, Ft. Worth, Tx; two brothers, James A. Morris of Maysville, Ok and Jim Morris of Chickasha, Ok; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.
