All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Evergreen Cemetery--Lompoc CA Roy Samiel Crawford 1922-2007 Roy Samiel Crawford of Lompoc passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 in Santa Barbara at the age of 84. Born October 2, 1922 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Samuel Monroe and Millie Crawford, Roy was raised and educated in Oklahoma. He married Laverne Howell April 18, 1942 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. In 1947 he came to Santa Maria where he became the foreman over several vegetable ranches in Oso Flaco. In 1968 he moved to Lompoc and took a job with Johns Manville where he stayed until his retirement in 1990. Roy was a charter member of the Boy Scouts of America in Nipomo. He was a scoutmaster for many years and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. In his retirement Roy stayed active as a greeter at the local K-Mart and in the men's ministries at First Assembly of God in Lompoc. He enjoyed gardening and taking road trips. More than anything he loved his family, watching his grandchildren play ball, and his fellowship with his church family. Roy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Yolanda Crawford of Lompoc; son, Mark Crawford of Lompoc; daughter and son- in-law, Glenda and Dennis Krois of Grants Pass, Oregon; sister, Edith Wilkerson of Luther, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kara, Bradley, Cameron and Nathan Crawford, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Laverne, his wife of 62 years, in 2004, and his brother Virgil Crawford in 2002. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, and the funeral service will be Thursday, March 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Ron Gravell of First Assembly of God will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
